A group of Ukrainian soldiers from the 24:th mechanized brigade are doing their second last day of training out of fifteen before being sent to the frontlines of Chasiv Yar in August 2024. Their fates are today unknown. The men in this short film was taken to a Ukrainian base for a month-long training—some voluntarily, others involuntarily. The program has faced criticism for its lack of relevance to the brutal realities of the frontlines. However, they later underwent an intensive 15-day course led by Swedish instructor Magnus Ek, whose mission is to prepare them as best as possible for what lies ahead. According to local Ukrainian sources, even this short training is considered a privilege. Two Days Before Chasiv Yar is filmed the day before the last of this course - before the unit is sent to Chasiv Yar. The purpose of the film is to honor them.
